I’m Radhika — “Rad” to friends — and this is my food blog, which also incorporates my love of pop culture. There’s no official theme behind the food in this blog, though if you’re looking for seafood, beef or anything overflowing with tomatoes, this may not be the best destination for you.
I didn’t really start doing a whole lot of cooking until grad school a few years ago, which means my desire to learn how to cook was mostly survival based. My initial attempts to prepare anything beyond eggs included cookies and cakes. After making tandoori chicken for a party, I started growing more adventurous and realized I enjoyed cooking, finding it a practical and creative outlet.
The food I plan on presenting here includes old favorites, as well as new culinary adventures. I may also include a number of Indian recipes as I try to learn more of the family repertoire. Due to being a journalist by day and hobbyist by night, there may be non-recipe posts from time to time, including those on travel (with some focus on food), NYC life, and other topics I enjoy (books, music, TV). I hope you like what you see.
